Science Court - Interactive, whole group, software programs. Each program comes with the CD and teacher workbook with student handouts and assessments. Designed for collaborative groups who watch a "science trial," answer questions, and make predictions all while learning about a specific science topic. Vocabulary and concepts are thoroughly covered by the program which typically takes 4 classes to complete. Student Favorite!

paint.net - This free photo editing and art program offers many of the tools of Adobe Photoshop, but the download is free. To get the most functionality, visit the plug-in pages and download the additional tools and effects offered - all free of charge.

GameMaker 8.1 - Create your own mult-level video games using this free program. It's easy to learn and use. Additional graphics are available on the GameMaker forums. Note: This download is a legacy version as the newer free download doesn't include any of the necessary resources used when creating games.

Match-up Quiz Generator - Generate your own Flash-based matching quizzes and tests. These colorful computer-based quizzes help increase student interest.

Fling the Teacher - A popular game with students, teachers can now create their own on any topic. Quizzes must contain at least 15 M/C questions. If a student gets all of them correct, they can Fling the Teacher across the sky.  Hint: Search the web for complete versions on many topics made by other teachers.


Open Office - This set of productivity programs is very similar to older versions of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.

Big Brainz - Incredible video game which teaches children the concepts of multiplication as it relates to addition helping them develop a true understanding of multiplication. Players move through a variety of scenes and defeat opponents by correctly solving problems as the program demonstrates the relationship between adding and multiplying. Multiple Choice Quiz Generator - This free program allows teachers to create computer-based multiple choice quizzes. It's easy to use and quizzes can be converted into Flash-based activities for use on websites. Three formats are offered: The Big Quiz designed for whole class instruction using a projector or interactive whiteboard; Quiz + Text which provides users with a reading text and questions; and the Mini Quiz which can be added to an existing webpage or used for a quick warm-up.
